"The universe shapes us through hardships, molding us into who we are meant to become"

Who is Paul?

“Ever since I was a child, I’ve felt a creative bird tapping at the window of my soul, whispering, “Let me in… together, we can change the world, one step at a time.”

Growing up in Ukraine, my childhood had its challenges. Moving to America at 14 was a difficult transition, but as I reflect on my journey, I’m grateful for those hardships. I truly believe that the universe shapes us through challenges, molding us into who we are meant to become.

My art is a reflection of these experiences — expressed through the organic flow of natural shapes, rare woods, vibrant gemstones, and the powerful energy of fractal burning. Using over ten different techniques, I constantly experiment and push the boundaries of my craft, always seeking new ways to bring nature’s beauty to life.”

“I’ve worked with wood for most of my life. As an expert in painting and refinishing, I’ve owned my business in Bend, Oregon, for over 20 years. Refinishing decks, trim, furniture, and floors has allowed me to explore and appreciate the unique characteristics of different types of wood.

In 2023, I decided to fully immerse myself in artistic woodworking. When my painting business naturally slowed down during the winter months, I seized the opportunity to dive headfirst into my passion. Through countless hours of buying, measuring, cutting, sanding, coating, building, gluing, and fractal burning, my vision began to take shape. Working on multiple pieces simultaneously meant that the final results took time, but by the end of that winter, I had something tangible — something that truly showcased what I could create.

Despite the challenges that come with the creative process, I focus on the joy and fulfillment that come from experiencing the creative flow. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of transforming raw elements of nature into something beautiful, unique, and deeply personal.”
